The Dewsbury & District Model Aero Club is 51 years old this year (2017). The club was formed in September 1966.

We are holding a Fly In and Open Day on Sunday 17th September 2017 (11.00am start), at our Sands Lane, Flying Field, to celebrate this anniversary. The day will conclude at 5.00pm.

Tea and Coffee making facilities, will be available in the club cabin, throughout the day.

The event will be run on a safe, but informal basis with some ad-hoc fun flying events, for people to try, during the day.

We are hoping to have our carrier deck landing platform ready for the day. Come along and see if you can land and take off from the carrier deck.

Members of the public are welcome to come along and see how we operate. We can offer help and advice, on most aspects of model flying and can point out your legal obligations (especially in relation to multi rotor aircraft/drones), if you want to learn to fly model aircraft.

Any old club members, would be most welcome to join us, to see how things have changed and progressed.

No aircraft over 7kgs, no turbines. Noise limit of 82 decibels. BMFA insurance required.

Any updates will be placed on here, including nearer the time, confirmation the event is going ahead, or cancellation details, should we have to postpone the event, due to any adverse weather conditions.

If you require any more details, please feel free to contact me (details below).

This event is still going ahead. Let’s just hope the weather is good on the day.

The carrier deck landing platform is ready, so come along and give it a try, see if you can land and take off from it, without any mishaps.

Members of the public are welcome to come along and see how we operate and what we can offer. We can give advice and help in relation to most types of model aircraft, including multi rotor aircraft (drones), to make sure you are flying them legally, in accordance with the current legislation.

Any further updates will be placed on here, as the day approaches.

If you want any more information, give me a call or send me an email.

DDMAC Membership Secretary.

This event is going ahead and will start at 11.00am.

The weather looks like it should be fine to start off, with the chance of a few showers during the afternoon. Hopefully the wind will not be too strong, with a light to moderate Northerly (9 mph with gusts to 15 mph).

Thank you to everyone who helped and turned up for this anniversary fly-in. Despite a couple of rain showers, there was plenty of flying, including the limbo and carrier deck landing platform. Both these events and the mini pyro technics display, went down very well.

We raised another £75.00 for our nominated charity (The Alzheimer’s Society). Thank you for all your donations.

Martin Lynn,
DDMAC Membership Secretary.

Thank you Martin and everyone else that helped make today's event another great day of fun and flying, I had a good fun attempting the carrier deck landings.

Best regards

Richard.
