Easter Fun Fly

I am looking at organising an Easter Fun Fly, over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

The possible dates are,

Saturday 4th April 2015
Sunday 5th April 2015
Monday 6th April 2015

Any members views, as to which day to hold the event, would be appreciated.
Also any ideas as to the format and events to hold, would be welcomed.
Does anyone want to try organising something different, to do on the day?
Should we invite the other local clubs like at the 2014 Christmas Fun fly?

Club Competitions

I am thinking of resurrecting the club competitions this year and may be getting some trophies.
Historically the competitions consisted of, Spot Landing, Limbo and Touch and Go events.
It is some time since the competitions were held and maybe it’s time, for the events/format to change.

Looking further ahead the club bonfire in November, seems to go down well. Hopefully we will be able to hold it again this year.

Let me have your thoughts.

Martin Lynn.

Don`t know what I will be doing over the Easter period yet but whichever day the funfly is held i will try my utmost to be there.

I also think inviting local clubs is a great idea, look how busy/good the Xmas funfly was.

For the events/competitions i do like some of these to be pretty easy/laid back because i think that encourages members of all flying capabilities to have a go.The ETA always seems popular so if anyone can think of one or two similar events i think that would go down well on the day.

The other more adventurous events are always good to add a more competitive edge to the days flying.I`m sure if the winners of those events were able to win a trophy for their exploits that would make it a little more exciting too!

How about a `best flight`,`best model` or `most unusual model`(think of the Chief and his eagle or his `non`-flying boat  ) for the day?Only thing with that is someone would have to judge those?I`m sure we could sort a judge(s) if needed?

I think the bonfire funfly should be a dead cert, that is always well attended by members and their families/friends too.The night flying is always well received, always impresses me anyway!

Is it possible to use something like a light beam for the limbo i.e. if you break the beam an alarm sounds etc. That would encourage more people to compete without the fear of breaking their models . The limbo was great to watch but it was very destructive due to the horizontal ribbon or vertical :D posts bringing models to an abrupt halt!!!!!!

I will leave that one to you Bob, to source the beam and alarm system. It is beyond my technical abilities, but sounds a good idea if it can be done.

Martin.
